Tourism in Meerane

Although Meerane is situated in the economic region of Chemnitz-Zwickau, there's enough space for privacy and recreation. The industrial city region is surrounded by rural areas, where fields, grasslands and forests nestle to the hilly landscape and the eye of the wanderer or cyclist meets charming picturesque perspectives.

Our city offers many loveable places and experiences, which you discover best on a walk through Meerane.

But there is still much to see next door: Robert Schumann in Zwickau, Karl May in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, the Schönburgers in the castles of Forder- and Hinterglauchau, 600-years-old traditions of potters in Waldenburg. Interesting exhibitions can be visited in the Skatmuseum Altenburg, the Daetz-Center with international statuary in Lichtenstein or the Argarmuseum in Blankenhain. In the "Miniwelt" Lichtenstein, the sights of the whole world are at the visitor's feet and the "Sachsenring", our legendary Grand Prix racetrack, is a meeting place for the elite of motorsports as well as their fans.

The urban hinterland of Meerane offers multifaceted touristic attractions and sights. There is the possibility to visit the famous museums in the world culture city of Weimar, the Semperoper and the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) in Dresden, the Neue Messe and the leisure park Belantis in Leipzig, as well as the Saxon Switzerland, the village of toys Seiffen and the centers of winter sports in the Erzgebirge or in Carlsbad (Czech Republic).
